Email Usage Fees

Everything you need to know about charges related to sending and receiving email through ClinicMonk™.

How Email Usage Is Billed

Email you send and receive through ClinicMonk™ is billed from your clinic's wallet, not charged to your card individually. Your wallet recharges automatically from your card on file when the balance runs low — see Your ClinicMonk™ Wallet for details on how that works.

These charges are separate from your monthly or annual subscription fee. Your subscription covers the platform itself; email usage is billed based on what you actually use.

What Counts as a Billable Email

All incoming and outgoing email activity on your account counts toward usage — this includes emails where your clinic's address appears in the To, CC, or BCC field, not just emails you actively compose and send.

Forwarded Emails

Forwarded emails are billed the same way as outgoing emails — each forwarded message incurs the standard per-email charge.

Email Verification

ClinicMonk supports an optional Email Verification feature that checks whether an email address is legitimate and active before any message is sent. When enabled, the system automatically runs three checks on each address: it validates the formatting, confirms the domain can receive email, and pings the specific mailbox to verify it exists. This helps protect your sender reputation by reducing bounce rates.

This feature carries a usage fee of $0.005 per email verification, billed from your clinic's wallet alongside your other email and phone usage charges. Enabling it means every email address processed through the verification step—whether during a send or a scheduled re-verification—will incur this cost.

If you'd like to enable or manage this feature, you can do so from your account settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does email usage come out of the same wallet as phone usage?

Yes. Phone and email usage are both billed from your clinic's single wallet.

Q: Why was I charged for an email I didn't send?

If your clinic's address was included as a CC or BCC recipient on an email — including automated or forwarded messages — that counts as billable usage, even if you didn't personally compose or send it.

Q: Who do I contact if I have questions about an email-related charge?

Reach out to our support team — we manage your clinic's billing and can walk through any charge with you.
